Award winning marketing campaigns.

Congratulations to all of the winners at the 2018 Australian Marketing Institute's night of nights. I felt privileged and honoured to be a judge of this year's awards. 

The Australian Marketing Institute's 2018 Awards showcased the very best the country has produced across a range of categories. Some massive iconic brands were included in the list of winners along with some local, small budget innovative marketing campaigns.

I have judged a few different awards over the years and if you are entering any sort of industry awards, I have a few pointers I'd like to share with you.

1. ​Enter! You have to be in it to win it. Don't sit back and wait, get your entry in. 
2. Select the right category for you. This might mean you have a few entries across a few different categories.
3. Read the questions and answer them fully. Don't ever answer with "see answer 2" or anything lazy like this. If you feel like you are repeating yourself - try for a different angle.
4. Don't assume the judges know you, your work or your brand. Start from scratch and assume they are living in another market.
5. Back up your responses with data. Hard evidence always carries weight over fluff and bubble.
6. Put some effort in. Make it look impressive! But read what is required. If you need to type into an online box, do so, don't just add an attachment.
7. Enjoy the process. Even if you don't win, reflecting on your journey can be rewarding in itself.
8. Nominate others. If you see something or someone award worthy - nominate them for an award today.
